Mother Tafod, 2018

Commissioned by Ty Pawb for the dual language locals of the Wrexham area of North Wales. I was tasked in creating a banner that raised awareness of the potential loss of the Welsh language and so decided to mix the two languages for the word mother tongue, Tafod being Welsh for tongue. The banner was also referencing the miners strike prominent in the North Wales area during the 70’s and its design was inspired by a bright yellow campaign button from the time. The banner’s design became t-shirts and badges sold in the gallery shop.
